The River's Edge Music Festival debuts on Harriet Island June 23rd and 24th. It will feature a mixture of rock styles put together by concert promoters Live Nation. That company will also handle St. Paul's Fourth of July festival at the same location.

Harriet Island will rock out next summer

A five-year deal has been struck between the City of St. Paul and concert promoter Live Nation for a new multi-day music festival starting in 2012. No artists have been named, but promoters expect crowds upwards of 40,000. Live Nation's roster of artists include U2, Madonna, Jay-Z and Nickelback.

Could 'Amsterdam' bring life to downtown St. Paul?

Downtown St. Paul is probably not many Twin Citians first choice for live music. However, MPR reports that business is exceeding expectations at St. Paul's newest music venue, 'Amsterdam Bar and Hall.' There are even reports of people crossing the river from Minneapolis to see shows!

Springsteen to bring 'Wrecking Ball' tour to St. Paul

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have added 16 dates to their fall tour and will perform at the Xcel Energy Center on Nov. 11, Billboard.com reports. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Aug. 4.

River's Edge ... the next Lollapalooza?

Event promoters aim to make the new River's Edge Music Festival a high-profile destination event akin to California's Coachella or Lollapalooza in downtown Chicago. Will it stack up? We'll know soon. The weekend-long outdoor concert on downtown St. Paul's Harriet Island, featuring the Dave Matthews Band among many others, launches Saturday.
