The search for the suspect charged with killing his former boyfriend and business partner at an Arden Hills gas station continues, and the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office has issued a new wanted poster hoping it will aid in the search.

Lyle Marvin "Ty" Hoffman, 44, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Kelly Phillips, 48. Investigators believe that on Aug. 11 Hoffman shot Phillips three times in a gas station parking lot before fleeing the scene.

Hoffman hasn't been seen since, and the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office said Thursday he may have fled the state and could be anywhere in the country.

"We are looking for him in a very wide area," Rob Allen with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, told the Star Tribune.

On Thursday, investigators did another ground search for the suspect in Blaine, which is where they last knew him to be, the newspaper says.

The wanted poster, which references a reward of up to $10,000 offered by Crime Stoppers to find the suspect, says the handgun used in the shooting hasn't been recovered and Hoffman should be considered armed and dangerous.

"Hoffman is known to associated within the gay community and investigators believe that he may use Grindr, Craig's List, Scruff or other applications to find shelter," the poster says.

Anyone with information about Hoffman's whereabouts is urged to call 911 or report tips anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

The victim

Phillips was the vice president and general counsel for Boston Scientific and co-founded Lush Food Bar in Minneapolis with Hoffman. The two also used to be romantically involved.
