The Humphrey Terminal, also known as Terminal 2, has a new larger security checkpoint to help reduce the wait time for passengers traveling through the Twin Cities, the Pioneer Press reports. The Metropolitan Airports Commission, which runs the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, says it is designed to screen 150 additional travelers each hour.
The $16 million expansion also features additional space for new restaurants that will open early next year, KSTP reports.
The Pioneer Press notes the number of boarding passengers has tripled at the Humphrey Terminal since it opened more than a decade ago.
Meanwhile, a $1.5 billion expansion at the main Lindbergh Terminal is still looming even though passenger traffic is down about 1 percent so far this year.
