New Year means big chill across northern Minnesota

Across northern Minnesota, New Year Day ushered in extreme cold, with the chilliest spot being Brimson at 26-below zero. Brimson is 44 miles northeast of Duluth.
The Duluth News Tribune also reports wind chills at 32-below zero at Grand Rapids and 30-below at Moose Lake.
It's a bit "warmer" to the south, with the Twin Cities waking up to 6-below readings. St. Cloud saw temps at 5-below and Rochester saw readings at 8-below.
