There have never been more airline passengers getting in and out of North Dakota.

WDAY reports that airports in Williston, Bismarck, Fargo and Grand Forks all saw the highest April boardings on record this year.

North Dakota's Aeronautics Commission says boardings at the state's eight large airports were up nearly 5.5 percent from April of the previous year. Boardings at the eight airports through the first four months of the year were up more than 10 percent from 2012.

The most dramatic increase was in Williston, which counted a jump of more than 162 percent. Williston is in the heart of the booming western oil patch.
