North Dakota tribes will walk in inaugural parade

A 55-member delegation representing North Dakota tribes will walk in President Obama’s inauguration parade on Jan. 21, Forum Communications reported.

Prairie Rose Seminole of Fargo is helping to organize the delegation. She gathered representatives from North Dakota’s tribes: the Three Affiliated Tribes of Fort Berthold, Spirit Lake Nation of Fort Totten, Standing Rock Dakota, Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate and the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa.

“It’s a huge honor to be able to welcome the president to his second term,” Seminole said.

She said the delegation of enrolled members is a diverse one, with participants ranging from veterans to children. Some plan to walk the 15-block parade route in traditional attire.
