Minnesota, your true colors are showing.

According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources fall color finder, it's the perfect time to go leaf peeping, because in nearly two-thirds of the state most of the trees have changed color.

The best places to catch a glimpse of vibrant reds, oranges and yellows is detailed in red on the map below. The splotches of yellow on the map, which includes the Twin Cities and southeastern Minnesota, is where 50-75 percent of leaves have turned. The maroon areas – mainly concentrated to northern Minnesota – are where colors are past their peak.

The DNR's fall color finder also breaks down the best state parks for leaf-peepers, with information on the percentage of trees that have turned over. And it lets you view photos of the fall colors from the parks, as well as upload your own.

Explore Minnesota also has a guide that breaks down the best places to see fall colors. And if you're planning to go to central Minnesota, where many trees are at their peak, the St. Cloud Times has a list of three ways to explore Minnesota's colors.

And this weekend looks pretty perfect for an adventure into the woods. The National Weather Service is predicting some rain Saturday, but Sunday is forecast as mostly sunny with a high temperature in the upper 60s into the 70s for much of Minnesota.
