Numerous injuries have been reported after a Hancock Public School Transport van and a semi were involved in a crash Monday evening.

According to the Swift County Sheriff's Office, there were 7 children and one adult driver in the van, along with the driver of the semi.

"The van driver and students were transported to area hospitals," Hancock Schools Superintendent Loren Hacker told GoMN. "Two of the students were transported on to other care facilities. We are working diligently with local authorities to make sure that student and family needs are immediately addressed."

The crash happened County Road 20 and County Road 63 NW near Danvers, which is just west of Benson, Minnesota.

Emergency response teams from all around the area were dispatched to the scene, as was a Life Link helicopter.

Hancock boys basketball coach Cory Bedel told the West Central Tribune that the crash sounded "pretty serious." Their basketball team is playing for a trip to the State Tournament tonight, and the game is being played as scheduled.

This story will be updated when more information is provided.
