Oakdale 9-year-old laid to rest

Author:

Mourners filled a church in Oakdale to say farewell to a fourth-grader who was shot to death last week while riding in his mother's car.

Fox 9 reports 1,200 ribbons were handed out to those attending the funeral Mass for Devin Aryal, to encourage them to remember the good Devin brought into the world more than the evil that took him out of it.

The Pioneer Press reports a memorial fund for Devin has been opened at US Bank.

34-year-old Nhan Tran of Oakdale faces six felony charges, including second-degree murder, for allegedly killing Aryal and injuring two adults while shooting at passing vehicles. His attorney has requested a mental health assessment for Tran.
