CNN/Money Magazine has named the metro area community of Oakdale to its list of top 25 communities with the most affordable housing. Oakdale ranked 15th on the list.

The median home price in Oakdale was listed at $130,000, while median family income was put at $82,547. The publication quoted Oakdale's mayor Carmen Sarrack, who said that homes in are very reasonably priced, with townhouses costing about $80,000, while a two-bedroom, 2,500 square-foot home on a golf course goes for $400,000 or so.

The list praised Oakdale's park system and credited nearby 3M for solidifying the town's economy, creating a range of jobs from blue collar to executive positions.

Brown Deer, Wis. came in at No. 19 on the affordable housing list, while Neenah, Wis. was ranked No. 24.

The magazine recently named the best small towns in America and Chanhassen ranked fourth on that list. Apple Valley also made the cut this year at No. 17, along with Savage at No. 21.
