President Barack Obama, who canceled campaign events Wednesday for a third day in a row to focus on Hurricane Sandy, will touch down to make remarks on the tarmac at Austin Straubel International Airport near Green Bay on Thursday morning, the Associated Press reports.

Vice President Joe Biden plans a campaign appearance in Superior, Wis., on Friday, the Duluth News Tribune reports.

The Obama and Romney campaigns are making last-ditch efforts to win Midwestern states, sending surrogates to Minnesota and spending money here on ads. Nationwide, the two are in a dead heat, according to the latest poll released Tuesday by The New York Times and CBS News.

Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod said he would shave his mustache of 40 years if Obama loses Minnesota, Michigan or Pennsylvania.
