President Barack Obama frequently posts a weekly address on YouTube, this week mentioning Minnesota along with Baton Rouge and Dallas.

"It's been a challenging couple of weeks," Obama said in the video. “The shootings in Minnesota and Baton Rouge; the protests; the targeting and murder of police officers in Dallas —it’s left all of us struggling to make sense of things at times."

He reaffirmed his stance that America is "not as divided as some folks try to insist," as well as discussing his meetings with police officers, Black Lives Matter organizers and his town hall on gun violence Thursday night.

"Too often we ask our police to do too much," Obama said, adding that uncomfortable but important conversations lead to police safety and equality in the justice system.
