Off-duty deputy, patron injured in struggle at gas station
Two people were injured, one of them an off-duty deputy, after an overnight shooting at a gas station in Carver County.
The shooting happened at the Kwik Trip located just off Highway 212 in Norwood Young America, near Central Elementary School.
WCCO reports a McLeod County sheriff's deputy, off duty at the time, happened to be at the gas station around 2:40 a.m., when a call about an unruly patron came in.
According to KSTP, a struggle between the deputy and the customer ensued.
A gun was fired and both were injured in the struggle, MPR says, though it's unclear right now what types of injuries were sustained. The patron fled and was located just blocks away.
FOX 9 reports neither suffered life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to separate hospitals.
Friday morning, the Carver County Sheriff's Office called it a "critical incident" and later said the area would be closed to traffic.
