Officer involved in shooting at New Hope gas station

Investigators have arrested a man they suspect was involved in a carjacking and robbery at a New Hope gas station early Friday, KARE 11 reports. The man initially escaped even after being shot by an officer, KARE says.

The suspect was pulled over at 28th Street West and Humboldt Avenue in Minneapolis in a stolen vehicle and taken into custody, KARE says.

Police had been called about an armed robbery at the Holiday gas station in the 7100 block of 42nd Avenue at about 6 a.m.

The Pioneer Press reported that the suspect had encountered an off-duty Crystal police officer at the gas station, and the suspect drove off in the officer's personal vehicle, according to Hennepin County authorities.
