A Minneapolis police officer shot at a vehicle full of suspected shoplifters after the vehicle hit him in the parking lot of a Cub Foods Saturday night, the police department said on Facebook.

According to the Facebook post, the officer approached the vehicle around 1o p.m. at the Cub Foods near 60th Street and Nicollet Avenue South, and the suspect "drove directly at the officer, striking him."

The officer shot at the vehicle one time. The vehicle fled the scene.

The officer suffered only minor injuries.

Police said Sunday the two suspects involved in the shoplifting incident and "felony assault on an officer" are described as male and female in their mid-30s and are "mixed race." They were driving an early 2000 Ford Explorer in a dark color, possibly dark green or black.

Police haven't released any additional information, but do say they are reviewing surveillance video.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Minneapolis Police Department.
