Officials: Deaths of teen siblings in Meeker County a murder-suicide

The deaths of two teenage siblings in Meeker County Tuesday was a murder-suicide, according to officials.

Meeker County Sheriff Brian Cruze confirmed in a news release that David Cunningham, 17, is believed to have shot his 15-year-old sister Jessica Cunningham before turning the gun on himself.

Their bodies were found at their Harvey Township home on the 56900 block of 340th Street by their father, Thomas Cunningham, 51, at around 2:30 p.m. Monday.

The sheriff's office says two follow-up search warrants were executed at the home after the bodies were discovered, one a follow-up to the murder-suicide investigation and the other related to marijuana.

The Drug and Gang Task Force is carrying out a separate investigation into the drugs case, but Sheriff Cruze said the drugs and the murder-suicide are not believed to be related.

David Cunningham, a student at Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City High School, was home Monday because there wasn't school that day, the release says. His sister, a former student at the school, had been schooling online at home.

Police say there's no known motive for the shooting at this point.
