The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department is investigating the disappearance of 55 head of cattle from a Henning, Minn., farm, the Forum of Fargo-Moorhead reports.
Officials believe the cattle -- 23 Black Angus cows and 32 Black Angus calves -- were stolen sometime in the last 10 days.
The animals are valued at $50,000, officials say.
The owner of the cattle noticed they were missing after a head count.
WDAY-TV reports the owner -- who wishes to remain unidentified over fears of more of his cattle being stolen -- was planning to sell the calves within the next 40 days and was hoping to net about $24,000 from the sale.
"It's going to be a huge hit on my paycheck," the owner said.
