Officials post video confessions from DWI offenders


City Pages has posted the video confessions of three men convicted of DWI. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety produced the videos, and released them during the holiday season to remind drivers about the consequences of drinking and driving.

In a news release announcing the videos Thursday, the DPS said at least 2,150 people have been arrested for DWI since its crackdown began Nov. 27.

It also released data from 2012:

  • 104 people were killed in drunk driving crashes.
  • 2,644 people suffered injuries in alcohol-related crashes.
  • 28,418 people were arrested for DWI in 2012—the average alcohol-concentration was 0.154.
