OMG kittens are planning to take over Minneapolis City Hall

They're going to campaign and "run for office." ????

Minneapolis City Hall is bracing for a takeover.

Don't worry – it's going to be adorable. Two-dozen felines will be running about the building later this month, claiming it Kitty Hall for the day.

While they're there, the 18 kittens and six cats will also be working on their campaigns. They'll be running for Minneapolis Meow-or and Kitty Council President. So it's going to be a very busy day.

This is all happening at the Minneapolis City Hall Rotunda on June 27 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. People will be able to stop by and vote in person, or simply vote online.

There's a reason the City is doing this – beyond the fact that's going to be downright precious. It's to raise awareness for cat adoption, the Star Tribune reports.

The kittens are all coming from Minneapolis Animal Care and Control.

You can check out the first campaign video below – the city says more will released as we get closer to the June election day.

According to the Humane Society, 6-8 million dogs and cats enter U.S. animal shelters every year. Of those, four million are adopted every year, and three million are euthanized.
