We love our lists of top hamburgers.
Now the Thrillist website is offering a variation on that theme: not simply the list of the best meat-and-bun-with-ketchup-and-pickles burgers, but rather the best of the nation's updated, fancified, chef-turned, new-school version of the best burger.
Libertine, located at 3001 Hennepin Ave. in Minneapolis' Uptown neighborhood, made the cut.
Thrillist named Libertine's steak burger ($12) to its list of the 15 American restaurants that are doing something fun/different/interesting with the All-American sandwich fave. The website likes the dish for its white cheddar and sweet bacon jam. It offers its hungry patrons what the website describes as "a tangy, sweet, gooey mess."
Thrillist is not the first to fall hard for this sandwich. In its October review of Libertine, the Star Tribune called the burgers "first rate" and the September review in Mpls.St.Paul Magazine singled out the steak burger for praise, noting that it is "truly phenomenal, beefy and robust, and in a league with the best local restaurant burgers."
