The much-anticipated online cat video festival plays Thursday night at the Walker Art Center.

With about 70 videos over 60 minutes, the Walker is mounting a social experiment as much as a film festival, the Associated Press reports.

People submitted thousands of nominations for their favorites, the Walker says.

Walker Art Center's online cat video collection hits the road

The Walker Art Center's collection of Internet cat videos, which generated some nationwide buzz this summer, is now touring the country. The Pioneer Press reports the Minneapolis-based museum screened its hour and a half collection of cat videos for students at the University of Massachusetts Boston last month. On Nov. 15, the newspaper says it will be shown at the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego.

Obama honors Walker Art Center director

Walker Art Center director Olga Viso has been nominated by President Barack Obama to become a member of the National Council on the Arts. Viso has been director of the Walker since 2008.

Flashback: New Walker exhibit explores 1980s
