Online plea helps Minneapolis rapper P.O.S. fund kidney transplant

While ailing Twin Cities rapper P.O.S. had a kidney transplant lined up, the funding was not -- until the Minneapolis-based septet Doomtree created a crowdfunding page through YouCaring.com for fans to help out with the bill, Time magazine reported.

P.O.S., whose real name is Stef Alexander, announced the cancellation of a scheduled tour last month.

The rapper said an unidentified childhood trauma caused his kidneys to fail.

The Minneapolis group The Rhymesayers also set up place to donate to P.O.S. on the their website.
