A gunman on Monday sped off into the frozen night on a snowmobile after stealing cash from a Chisago County convenience store.
The robbery was at about 7:30 p.m. Monday at Tim's Country Cupboard in Stacy, according to media reports. An undisclosed amount of money was swiped from a cash drawer and no arrests have been made, a Chisago County Sheriff's Office spokesman told the Star Tribune.
Authorities detained three people at a home a few miles away, where investigators found two stolen snowmobiles, the newspaper reports. Anoka County officers also found items at the home connected with the robbery, WCCO reports. The investigation continues.
The gunman wore a red ski mask, tan jacket, snowmobile pants and boots and had a silver revolver with a wooden handle. He fled after taking cash from the register, authorities said.
The getaway vehicle was a red snowmobile, possibly a '90s model, FOX 9 reports.
This is actually not an only-in-Minnesota story. It's been done in Wisconsin. A robber there last summer tried to escape via snowmobile – ignoring the fact that there was no snow.
