Android's top boss called a press conference for July 24 to unveil a new product, a mystery that set off much speculation among tech heads.
Best Buy jumped the gun on the surprise when it published a pre-order page for the new Nexus 7 the night before the announcement. A contributing writer to the Business Journal's publication in the Silicon Valley reported that "the bumbling Web team at Best Buy" said the long-rumored new version of the device would begin selling July 30 and run the previously unannounced Android 4.3. The page included specs and prices.
The page has since been taken down.
