Part of Mall of America was briefly evacuated Friday.

Deputy Chief Mike Hartley of the Bloomington Police Department told GoMN one of the mall's bomb detection dogs hit on an area near a vending machine, so the area was evacuated.

The area included a "portion of Nickelodeon Universe," according to a statement from the Mall of America, which called the incident a "standard security procedure."

Hartley told GoMN it's not that uncommon for this type of thing to happen.

Security at the mall told GoMN the evacuation was over by 12:07 p.m.

MOA says it "employs several industry-leading security measures" daily in an effort to keep the mall "safe and secure."
