Thousands in the Northland without power after second wave of storms
Crews had not finished restoring power in Bemidji and parts of the Iron Range after Monday night's storm when a follow-up storm lashed the area on Wednesday. Now several thousand customers are without power in cities including Grand Rapids, Bemidji, Mountain Iron, and Deer River. Officials say it could take as long as three days to get the electricity back on.
Hot and cold: Frost advisory issued for Northland
Wait, wasn't it just 95 degrees? It got chilly in a hurry, and now temperatures could dip into the low to mid-30s across the Iron Range, parts of the Arrowhead and much of northwestern Wisconsin, the National Weather Service says. Expect Twin Cities highs in the just the mid-60s early next week.
Crews still working to restore power on Iron Range
April showers turned into 11 inches of heavy, wet, power-line-breaking snow and folks on the Iron Range are still trying to get the electricity back on. 14,000 customers lost service in the Grand Rapids and Mountain Iron service areas. At least the roads are passable enough to allow schools to reopen.
Grand Forks area could see accumulating snow this weekend
The Weather Service office in Grand Forks says a storm is set to form in the Colorado Rockies this weekend that could blow through parts of North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota, leaving accumulating snowfall on the ground.
