An 80-year-old man from Windom, Minnesota has died in a crash in Oregon on Friday.
Oregon State Police says Tom Bonneville was the front passenger in a westbound GMC Acadia that was T-boned by a Chevy Trailblazer that lost control headed eastbound in Tillamook County.
Bonneville was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife Julia, 77, suffered serious injuries in the crash.
Their son Andrew, 47, was driving and their grandchildren aged 8 and 12 were also in the vehicle. They suffered minor injuries.
The state police say speed and "seatbelt usage" are possible contributing factors to the crash.
The Banks Fire District posted a picture of the crash, one of two fatal incidents in the district in the space of 24 hours, and urged drivers to slow down.
"We have miles and miles of beautiful scenic twisty roads in our District. These roads can take even an experienced driver's full attention and caution to drive them safely," it said.
