Pedestrian hit and killed in Eagan Thursday night


A pedestrian was hit and killed Thursday night in Eagan.

Police tell KSTP the accident happened at Yankee Doodle Road, when a 27-year-old ran out into traffic. He was not in the crosswalk.

The man was struck and killed by a 29-year-old driver in a white minivan, the Pioneer Press reports.

The newspaper adds the driver swerved to avoid the pedestrian but could not stop in time.

The driver is cooperating with police, and the van was towed from the scene, KSTP reports.

The investigation continues and no identities have yet been released.
