Pentatonix the latest act confirmed for this year's State Fair

Calling all a cappella fans: Pentatonix will play this year's Minnesota State Fair.

The Texas vocal quintet is the latest act to be announced for the State Fair Grandstand Series and will take to the main stage on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

Bursting onto the scene in 2011 appearing on and winning NBC's The Sing-Off, the group known for its a cappella and song cover medleys have sold 6 million albums since their debut EP PTX:Vol. 1 in 2012.

They have also won three Grammy Awards, have a YouTube channel with 13 million subscribers and released a series of wildly successful holiday albums.

Its latest, A Pentatonix Christmas, was certified platinum and included a version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" that went to No. 2 in the iTunes singles chart.

The latest album from the prolific singers, PTX Vol. 4 – Classics, includes versions of Dolly Parton's "Jolene" and John Lennon's "Imagine."

Their success came despite being dropped by their label, Sony-owned Epic Records, after winning The Sing Off, according to AXS.com.

Tickets for the State Fair show will cost $40 or $50 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 24 via etix.com or by calling (800) 514-3849. They will also be on sale at the State Fairgrounds Ticket Office from 10 a.m. to noon on Mar. 24.

Other acts already announced for the Grandstand series include Nickelback, Jim Gaffigan, Toby Keith, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons and John Mellencamp, with several more due to be announced in the coming months.
