Perfect storm of road construction projects hits Twin Cities this weekend

A collision of construction projects will make some drivers in and around the Twin Cities feel stymied at every turn as the navigate some of the area's busiest corridors, including segments of Interstate 94, I-35E, I-35W, I-494, Hwy. 65, Hwy. 52, I-694, Hwy. 169 and Hwy. 10.

Well, here's another fine mess.

Motorists, especially those in the east metro area, will be detoured, squeezed and slowed by road and lane closings along major Twin Cities arteries, including stretches of Interstate 94, I-35E, I-35W, I-494, Hwy. 65, Hwy. 52, I-694, Hwy. 169 and Hwy. 10, the Star Tribune reports.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has several maps that sketch out the closings.

MnDot: weekend construction closes parts of I-35 & I-694

Key stretches of freeway will be closed at 10 p.m. Friday night, according to MnDOT. Westbound Interstate 694/Hwy. 10 will be closed between I-35E and I-35W for an overpass demolition. While southbound I-35W between Hwy 13 and Burnsville will close, too. Both are set to reopen 5 a.m. Monday.

Highway 100 northbound will be closed from Highway 62 to Interstate 394 from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday.
