The Radisson Blu hotel that connects shoppers to the Mall of America in Bloomington opened Friday, the Pioneer Press reports.

The more than $130 million, 500-room high-end hotel has been under construction for several months and is part of larger plans to remake and expand the Megamall.

A version of FireLake Grill House and Cocktail Bar inside the hotel is also open. It's the same restaurant that's inside the Radisson downtown.

The new hotel markets itself as an upscale option for international travelers as well as a get-away from Minnesotans, KSTP says. The average rate is about $125 to $150 per night.

WCCO reports this on the second Radisson Blu to be built in the country, the first was built in Chicago.

Another hotel attached to the north side of the mall breaks ground in September that may include a water park.

KSTP says there are more hotel rooms in Bloomington than in downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul combined.
