Pinchas Zukerman to help SPCO musicians with fundraiser
World renowned violinist and conductor Pinchas Zukerman is stepping up to help out members of the locked out St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Pioneer Press reported.
Pinchas Zukerman, who led the SPCO from 1980 to 1987, is returning to the Twin Cities to lead the musicians of the SPCO who have been locked out of salary and benefits since Oct. 22.
The fundraiser will be an all-Mozart program at Wayzata Community Church on Dec. 2.
Meanwhile, locked-out musicians with the Minneapolis Orchestra announced Friday that they will play two December concerts. The orchestra members will play Dec. 15 and Dec. 16 at Ted Mann Concert Hall under the direction of Edo de Waart, who was the orchestra’s music director from 1986 to 1995.
The Minnesota Orchestra's musicians have been locked out since Sept. 30.
