Pizza Ranch eyes bigger slice of Twin Cities marketplace

Iowa-based Pizza Ranch, which predominantly has restaurants in outstate Minnesota, is making a push toward the Twin Cities. The restaurant chain opened its first metro-area eatery in Lakeville in May 2011 and has since expanded to Champlin, Shakopee and Eagan. Last week the chain opened a restaurant in Lakeville and will next open in Apple Valley.

Iowa-based Pizza Ranch, which predominantly has restaurants in outstate Minnesota, is making a push toward the Twin Cities, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal reported.

The restaurant chain opened its first metro-area eatery in Lakeville in May 2011 and has since expanded to Champlin, Shakopee and Eagan. Last week the chain opened a restaurant in Lakeville and will next open in Apple Valley.

Pizza Ranch was founded in 1981 and operates 169 restaurants in 10 Midwestern states -- 46 of them in Minnesota.

Granite City plans to open its 30th restaurant next year

Granite City Food & Brewery, based in St. Louis Park, will build its 30th eatery near Cleveland, Ohio, according to a news release. It is scheduled to open next summer. The casual dinning chain is also building new restaurants near Nashville, Tenn. and downtown Indianapolis.
