Plouffe, Span provide heroics in 4-3 win over KC
Josh Willingham hit his 34th home run of the season and drove in a pair of runs but it was Trevor Plouffe and Denard Span providing the heroics in the late innings. Plouffe hit a game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the ninth and Denard Span hit a walk-off double in the tenth to give the Twins a 4-3 win.
Liam Hendriks allowed all three Kansas City runs in five innings of work. He walked two and struck out three. Hendriks, who didn't factor in the final decision, is still winless in his Major League career -- a career that includes a total of 17 starts.
Joe Mauer missed his third straight game because of a sore back. The catcher hasn't played since suffering back spasms on Tuesday.
