2 men injured in separate fireworks accidents
A Plymouth man lost part of his hand during a fireworks accident in Gilbert in northeastern Minnesota Thursday.
WDIO reports that Gilbert police say the 21-year-old Plymouth man's name was Michael Anthony Hemple. He was holding a firework when it went off in his hand on the 4th of July, near Lake Ore-be-gone.
(Yes, that's a real name of a lake in Minnesota. You can't make that up.)
KAAL-TV reports the victim was airlifted to Duluth.
WCCO-TV reports a 25-year-old man from Dilworth also lost part of his hand in a firework explosion. The station reports that the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office said Jason Holweger lost two fingers on his right hand at about 10:22 p.m. Friday in northwestern Minnesota.
WDAY-TV says Holweger was reloading a 2-inch wide cannon-style firework , and while lighting a fuse the firework exploded in his hand.
