Police: 10-year-old boy says he was abducted in Anoka, before escaping

Police are investigating a report that a 10-year-old boy was abducted in Anoka on Monday, before managing to escape his captor.

According to an Anoka County Sheriff's Office news release, the boy told officers he was grabbed in a "bear hug" by his abductor and put into a black or dark-colored cargo van in the 600 block of Brisbin Street at around 5:24 p.m.

The child escaped by pushing open the rear door of the van while in the parking lot of a Chipotle restaurant at Riverdale Crossings in Coon Rapids.

He then fled to a Buffalo Wild Wings next door and called his mother, who in turn alerted police.

Police say the child was home from school on Monday and left his house without his parents' permission. Sheriff's deputies are working on verifying the information from the child and his family.

There is no description of any suspect or person of interest at this time.

Anyone with information about this case should contact Anoka County Sheriff's Office on 763-427-1212.
