Police 'aggressively investigating' after 5-year-old girl attacked at bus stop

A 5-year-old girl was found half-naked and bleeding Monday morning in St Paul, police say.

Department Spokesperson Steve Linders tells BringMeTheNews the incident happened around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Cook Avenue and Park Street. The girl's mother dropped her off at her school bus stop, officials explain.

Linders says the girl missed her own bus, and a different bus driving by found the girl bleeding with her pants and underwear around one of her ankles. The driver called 911.

When police arrived, they say the girl was sitting on the steps of the bus, bleeding from her nose and mouth, her face swollen.

The 5-year-old was taken to Children's Hospital and was released later to her mother. The girl is expected to recover from her injuries, officials say.

According to Linders, the St. Paul Police Department is "aggressively investigating" to find the person responsible for this act. They're also increasing patrols in the area.

Police say they currently do not have any suspects, and ask anyone with any information to contact them at 651-266-5685.

The girl has described her attacker as an "older boy," who is black and wore a blue shirt and pants, KSTP reports.
