Police arrest 3 after ending north MPLS standoff peacefully

Three people were taken into custody without incident after a standoff with Minneapolis Police after a man barricaded himself in a house on the north side.

KARE 11 says the incident was "brief," while the Pioneer Press reports it lasted two hours.

Minneapolis police responded to a home on the 3800 block of Thomas Avenue North around 6:30 p.m. on reports of shots fired and an assault, said Minneapolis police spokeswoman Cyndi Barrington, reports the PiPress.

When police arrived, a man ran into the home and barricaded himself, according to KARE 11. The SWAT team and negotiators were called, and four homes were evacuated, says the St. Paul paper.
