Police: Car crashes in ditch, man steps out and gets hit by a truck

The Minnesota State Patrol is searching for the driver of a vehicle that hit a man in Mahnomen County, according to the Forum News Service.

Authorities say 28-year-old Mohamed Paya of Fargo had been driving a Cadillac Deville Sunday evening. He hit a patch of ice, lost control of the vehicle and slid into the ditch along Highway 113 east of Waubun.

When Paya stepped outside of the car, he was struck by a passing vehicle, the report says.

The State Patrol notes that the vehicle may have been a red pickup truck, but the description is limited.

Paya's injuries were not life threatening. There was also a passenger in the Cadillac, who was not injured.
