An Eagan Police squad car was damaged Friday evening after a fleeing suspect crashed into it.

According to a press release, the chase started after an officer pulled over a car whose owner had a felony warrant out for their arrest issued by the Department of Corrections.

At around 5:30 p.m., the 46-year-old driver of the vehicle fled officers and subsequently crashed in Inver Grove Heights.

Two people in the car with him were arrested by officers, but the driver fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood.

He then stole a running car and drove off again, but his attempted escape was cut short when he crashed into a squad car.

The suspect, from St. Paul Park, was taken to Dakota County Jail for fleeing in a motor vehicle, motor vehicle theft and damage to property.
