Police say Thursday they are chasing down a 21-year-old from Thief River Falls who they say eluded them by running through a North Dakota farm field, at one point stole a riding lawn mower and then escaped in a stolen car.

Forum Communications has new details about the chase for the enterprising fugitive. The chase began Tuesday morning near Finley, roughly 80 miles northwest of Fargo, after deputies checked into a motor home parked oddly on the highway. They learned it was stolen in Thief River Falls, and spotted two men nearby, Forum reports.

Police chased the two through a cornfield, and caught Corey Roper, 22, a high-risk sex offender from Thief River Falls.

But Klade escaped. Police say that Klade on Wednesday morning stole a red 2006 Pontiac G6 four-door with North Dakota license plate JKB 184, from a farmstead near Portland, N.D. – after stealing a riding lawn mower from another farm and using it to further his escape, Valley News Live reported. Klade apparently ditched the mower when he stole the car, investigators say.

Klade is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 150 pounds, with short black hair, last seen wearing a white tank top and blue jeans and no shoes.
