Police fatally shoot man who was firing off rounds in driveway

A man has been shot dead by police responding to a scene in Eagan Sunday.

Eagan Police confirmed on Twitter an officer-involved shooting at the 1200 block of Ironwood Lane. The suspect was killed and nobody else was injured.

The shooting came after police were called to a report of rounds being fired in a driveway outside an apartment building at around noon.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.

The Star Tribune spoke with local resident Randy Nelson, who said he'd just started to watch the Vikings game when he heard a "pop, pop, pop, pop," and initially thought it was someone using a nail gun.
