Police find body believed to be of missing Eden Prairie man Joseph Best

A public appeal was issued on Thursday, two days after Joseph Best was last seen.

Police say they've found a body believed to be that of an Eden Prairie man last seen on Tuesday.

Eden Prairie PD issued a public appeal on Thursday morning as they sought 52-year-old Joseph Best.

A search organized by family and friends was planned on Thursday afternoon but was suddenly canceled, with the reason later revealed to be because a body was found.

Scott County Sheriff's Office says it impounded a white Honda Accord on Tuesday that they later realized belonged to Best, prompting a wider search of the area it was discovered.

The body was then found near the intersection of 173rd Street West and Valley View Drive in Sand Creek Township.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office are investigating, with the assistance of the Eden Prairie Police Department.

Best was last seen his family at his home in southwest Eden Prairie at around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, with an earlier appeal suggesting he "may be in need of medical help."

According to his Facebook page, Best is a native of Garner, Iowa and studied at the University of Northern Iowa.

A memorial is already being planned in Eden Prairie on Friday evening.
