Police responding to a robbery in the Summit Avenue area of St. Paul arrived to find a man dead from gunshot wounds.

The Star Tribune reports that police were called at 10:30 p.m. to reports of a robbery near Summit Ave. and Mississippi River Blvd., where one of the suspects is believed to have been shot to death.

The newspaper said officers found the wounded man after an incident in which at least two people attempted to rob another two adults. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by fire medics.

WCCO reports that shooting occurred in Shadow Falls Park, by the river, and that police are questioning two adults.

They are still searching for the second robbery suspect, and are trying to piece together what happened in the moments before the incident took place.

"What I can tell you is that a male subject, he was with a female and they were having a conversation at the time that the robbery call came in," Sgt. Paul Paulos, of St. Paul PD, told WCCO.

The Ramsey County medical examiner's office is working to identify the deceased, and his name will be released at a later stage.

Anyone with any information on the suspect should call the St. Paul police homicide unit at 651-266-5650.
