Police on Monday afternoon identified a woman whose body was found wrapped in a blanket Saturday night in St. Paul. They arrested a suspect in her death earlier Monday, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
The victim is Rahel Nigusse, 39, according to the St. Paul Police Department. Nigusse's body was found by a passerby about 9 p.m. Saturday in a wooded area along the 1400 block of Minnehaha Avenue E.
Police arrested a 64-year-old man shortly after midnight Monday morning on suspicion of murder, and he is in custody at the Ramsey County jail.
The suspect lives on the block where Nigusse’s body was found, according to jail records, and the two were acquaintances, according to police spokesman Sgt. Paul Paulos.
Paulos did not elaborate on the nature of their relationship or discuss why the man is a suspect, according to the Star Tribune.
The Ramsey County medical examiner's office is working to determine the cause of Nigusse's death.
The Star Tribune says the suspect has a criminal history, including convictions for theft and disorderly conduct.
