Police investigating fatal shooting overnight in Minneapolis


Police are investigating a fatal shooting in south Minneapolis that left one man dead early Sunday morning.

Officials responded to Pillsbury Avenue South near Lake Street West after receiving a shots fired report around 2 a.m. When they arrived, police found an adult male who was dead, a news release notes.

The preliminary investigation shows there was a confrontation between some people and one person started shooting, police said on Facebook.

Investigators have interviewed several people. They don't believe this is a random incident.

The medical examiner will release the identify and cause of death of the victim.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Minneapolis Police Department.

This is the 10th homicide of the year in Minneapolis, the Star Tribune reports.
