Police look for man suspected of breaking into home, sexually assaulting girl

Author:

Officials in Anoka County are asking for the public's help to find a sexual assault suspect.

Jarid Troy Alan Jovanovich, 28, is suspected of breaking into homes in Columbia Heights and St. Anthony early Sunday morning, a news release says.

In one incident, authorities say they think he broke into a home where two girls were sleeping and sexually assaulted one of them.

FOX 9 reports the girl was 9 years old.

Jovanovich, pictured above in a photo from 2015, was last seen in the St. Anthony area on Sunday, and again in South Minneapolis early Monday morning. A witness reported seeing him in a white hat and red shirt.

He's described as being 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds, the release says. He's had facial hair in the past, but that may not be the case anymore.

The Columbia Heights Police Department says Jovanovich is known to frequent the Columbia Heights, St. Anthony, Minneapolis and New Brighton areas.

Officials aren't sure if he's armed, but they're urging the public to use caution and contact police if he's seen. And anyone with information about where Jovanovich may be is asked to call 911 or the Anoka County Sheriff's Office at 763-427-1212.

Minnesota court records show Jovanovich has been convicted of several crimes including lurking, burglary, trespassing and assault, among other things.
