Update: Missing 11-year-old Burnsville boy found safe

Police had asked for the public's help in finding him.

The boy who walked away from his Burnsville home on Sunday has been found safe.

Burnsville police tweeted at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday that the 11-year-old "has been located safe" and they thanked people for their help.

Police said he was found in the apartment of a kid he knew from school.

The boy left his family's apartment on his own Sunday night, with police noting he has a history of running away. Police said they were concerned for how young he is and how long he'd been gone, so they asked the public for help finding him.

Police are looking for help finding an 11-year-old boy.

The boy left his family's apartment on the 1000 block of Burnsville Parkway W., in Burnsville, on Sunday around 10:40 p.m., but hasn't returned, the Burnsville Police Department tweeted Tuesday morning.

His mother said he left on his own and does have a history of running away, a news release says. Police say there's no reason to suspect that he's in danger, but for how young he is and how long he's been gone it "is concerning."

There have been some confirmed sightings of him since he went missing, in the area of Burnsville Parkway and Interstate 35W, police add.

He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, flip flops, and red and white pants.

Anyone who sees the boy is asked to call 911 to report his location, and if you have tips or past sightings give Detective Christine Carpenter a call at 952-895-4592.
