Police make 3rd arrest in slaying of 31-year-old Winona man

Author:

Authorities have arrested another person in the shooting death of Winona resident Adam Fort – eight days later and two states away.

An 18-year-old man has been taken into custody in Rockdale, Illinois, making him the third to be arrested in the homicide. He is now awaiting a hearing on possible extradition to Minnesota, WCCO reports.

According to the station, police believe he was in Fort's apartment when the 31-year-old was shot, and that a fourth person may have been there as well.

Fort died on Oct. 18, when authorities say two men – one of whom shot Fort – entered his apartment and demanded money, the Post Bulletin notes.

The suspects fled after the incident; one man, a 23-year-old who police described as "armed and dangerous," was arrested about five days later after a short foot chase in Wausau, Wisconsin.

An 18-year-old woman suspected of aiding the suspect was also arrested.

According to the Post Bulletin, an arrest warrant was issued for the 18-year-old man on charges of aiding and abetting second-degree murder and first-degree aggravated robbery.
