What's happening?

Police in Barron County, Wisconsin, have uncovered what they called a "sophisticated" marijuana growing operation.

They raided the property at 462 19th Ave., Comstock at 9 a.m. on Thursday, making a haul of pot in the process.

They found more than 300 marijuana plants "and a very sophisticated growing operation enclosed in a barn."

They also seized two monkeys found at the property.

Wait...monkeys?

Yes, apparently the 37-year-old resident is also a monkey owner, with The Chetek Alert reporting that at one point the barn owner wanted to start a zoo.

With the owner now arrested on possible charges of manufacturing marijuana, the monkeys are being looked after by some of his friends.

WEAU reports they are among several animals found in the barn, which housed what police called a "pretty high-tech operation."

Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told the TV station the owner "literally built another building inside of the top part of the barn to mask the smell and help assist with the grow operation."

The seizure was the result of a months-long operation by sheriff's departments in Barron, Washburn and Rusk counties as well as the state's Department of Investigation.
